Mission

This site is designed to help congregations locate resources for green building, renovations, and general programs. These resources are designed to help your congregation become better stewards of God's creation while saving money and resources over the long-term.

Theology

We are called to sustain God's creation and maintain the integrity of our environment so that future generations can utilize its resources. As one of the most visible social structures within our society, the church is responsible for setting an example of how God's creation should be cared for and protected. When the church leads by example through action and education others in our communities will see the benefits of "greening" and may adopt these practices.

Because of the differing needs and monetary constraints among congregations, it is important to determine the level of green programming your congregation is prepared to begin with. The following resources have been organized in a way that will allow you to determine where you would like to begin.

• Building From the Ground Up These resources are for congregations that are considering new construction. By examining these resources your congregation can learn about the ways this process can be done sustainably and with more green outcomes.
• Major Renovations If your congregation would like to add sustainable features to an existing structure, these resources will help. Find resources concerning updating buildings and surrounding areas to be more energy and water efficient, and learn about sustainable materials.
• Quick and Easy Steps These resources are intended to help all congregations take small, cost-effective steps toward making everyday practices more sustainable.
