MS. JULIA M. GROOM-THOMPSON
President, Episcopal Church Building Fund

Ms. Julia M. Groom-Thompson joined the ECBF as President in June 2008.

Julia Groom-Thompson has had a twenty-five year career with the American Red Cross, most recently serving as the Executive Director of its Susquehanna Valley Chapter headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As Executive Director, Ms. Groom-Thompson was responsible to the board for the strategic direction and operation of the Chapter in its service area of nearly 1 million constituents, utilizing a volunteer base of 1,500 persons. She had prior terms as Executive Director in the Red Cross Northern Utah and Mid Coast Maine Chapters.

Ms. Groom-Thompson has been notably active in The Episcopal Church, having served as a member of the Standing Committee in the Episcopal Diocese of Utah and as Stewardship Chair of both Good Shepherd Church of Ogden, Utah and St. James in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her present parish church is St. John’s of Lancaster. “I am delighted to know that the folks at 815 have discovered another gifted and faithful Utahn! We celebrate the election and wish her well in this new position,” said the Rt. Rev. Carolyn Tanner Irish, the Bishop of Utah.

A graduate of Bates College of Lewiston, Maine, Julia is married to Bill Thompson. Julia and Bill are devoted to their two Airedales.

SALLY DRESSER O'BRIEN
Vice President

Sally joined the Episcopal Church Building Fund in 1992. Prior to coming to the ECBF she served for 13 years on the staff of the Episcopal Church Center, as in the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief and Episcopal Migration Ministries. She has also served on a diocesan capital campaign. Sally holds a master degree in both Non-Profit Management and Social Work and is a practicing psychotherapist. She manages the loans repayment portfolio, and works with congregations that are in the building planning process.
