The Rev. Jimmy Bartz, Rector, Thad's, Los Angeles, and Episcopal Church Building Fund Board Member speaks at 2011 "Buildings for a New Tomorrow."

A couple of years ago, the Building Fund discovered the fact that every month four Episcopal churches close their doors for good. The reason? More likely than not, financial collapse. Gone are the days for most parishes when pledges will cover building costs and clergy. For many others, that day is likely fast approaching.

Buildings for a New Tomorrow was created to bring people together to discuss the complex issues of church buildings, in an open, honest and realistic forum. We also wanted to challenge people to think differently--about their buildings, what they represented, how they supported ministry (or do they?), how to use them for revenue, and when to close them. Participants and presenters came from across the country to challenge themselves and each other to think differently, to "Go big or go home".

Here's what some of them had to say:

If you are looking for a different church experience, join us at this year's symposium in Baltimore on April 15-17, 2012. It won't be what you think it will be. Promise.

The ECBF thanks the Church Pension Group for their generous contribution in support of Buildings for a New Tomorrow.
