Workshops

The ECBF will travel to your diocese to provide an educational workshop for congregations who are planning a building improvement, renovation, repair, or new construction project.

An effective planning process can help a congregation to build within the budget, make decisions with minimal conflict, and develop a building plan which is designed for the congregation’s future. During the day-long session the following topics are addressed:

Overview of the ECBF workbook A Congregational Planning Process which helps a congregation to
   • Set a firm budget based on what you can afford to spend;
   • Understand the congregation’s growth patterns, building time/use, relevance to community demographics, and it’s life cycle stage;
   • Identify mission priorities and their architectural implications.

Understand Congregational Life Cycle and at what life cycle stage your congregation is in.

Clarify how the congregation makes decisions and learn how to make decisions with minimal conflict.

Conduct productive meetings, make the best use of the time and expertise of volunteers.

Use the building as a tool for evangelism; Learn how to make a building inviting to the visitor and stranger.

Themes from the ECBF booklet The Church For Common Prayer are addressed in a slide presentation about the elements of good liturgical space and the value of flexible space.
